2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

GM decided to unveil a whole new line of SUVs, including the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. This new Chevrolet Tahoe has sharper lines and has a front end design that looks like it has taken design cues from its younger brother Chevorlet Trailblazer. Apparently this new Tahoe should have better fuel efficiency, though I doubt it will have much better than the 15mpg they currently get.

General Motors rolled out its next generation of sport utility vehicles, saying that they will debut with “significant gains in fuel efficiency, safety, sophistication and design,” but a report quotes a GM executive saying that even with the new vehicle’s fuel efficiency the segment’s sales will be flat.

Overall, I would say that I am impressed with the new design. The headlights were due for a much needed update and the front bumper gives it a more elegant look. The rest of the lines have more of a similar feel to the previous versions of the Tahoe.

Porsche Cayenne Hybrid

Porsche has decided that they will spend the next 5 years to produce a hybrid version of their popular Cayenne SUV. And what will all of the time and money get you, a whopping 15% in fuel savings.

Are you kidding me? It is going to take 5 years to produce a hybrid Cayenne that will save you 15% in gas and end up costing you 10% more than the normal Cayenne. Sounds like a plan Porsche, nice forward thinking.

By the time that 2010 rolls around you would think we would already have moved on to something a little better than 15%.

2006 Ford Shelby GT500 #1

Carroll Shelby and the Ford Special Vehicle Team (SVT) have teamed up to produce the most powerful Ford Mustang in the history of its existence. The Ford Shelby GT500 will boast an impressive 450+ hp with a modded 5.4L V-8. The new Shelby GT500 draws inspiration from classic Shelby Mustangs, including the “Eleanor” Shelby GT500 made popular by the movie Gone in 60 Seconds.

“The all-new 2005 Ford Mustang is one of the hottest cars in many years,” says Phil Martens, Ford group vice president, Product Creation. “Its chassis was engineered from the beginning to be the basis of a high-performance, world-class sports car from SVT, and the Shelby Cobra GT500 is it.”

With a price at around $40,000, this sure seems like a good deal for 450 hp. For those of you that want that raw Amercian muscle performance but can’t afford the Chevy Z06, this should definitely be a satisfactory substitute.
